Egemin to deliver PackMobile system to NorthShore Lab

Packmobile-4u lab specimen transport robot saves labor costs for community hospital laboratory.

NorthShore University HealthSystem Lab’s new PackMobile-4U system has cycle times of 15 minutes and is saving the lab on labor costs. The vehicle automatically delivers specimens and laboratory supplies to designated locations in 9 lab departments on a 24/7 basis. This vehicle has quick swap battery exchange packs that charge from a standard wall outlet; this enables continuous operation with no wait times. The Packmobile-4U model delivers hundreds of containers with specimens each 8-hour shift. The Robot travels through several doorways that have fire door releases. If any fire door closes, the Packmobile-4U auto stops 5 feet to 10 feet away from the door.

An expansion of the PackMobile-4U Robot routes will occur in the near future. Because of the reduced labor costs, this system’s ROI will be within one year.
