Host Software Engineer (WMS programmer, C++ Programmer, C# Programmer)

The Host Software Engineer reports to the Lead Host Engineer and works as a part of the Host Software Group. The chosen candidate will work as a member of a project team to produce project implementations of WMS software. This entails the configuration of the WMS product, detailed design, coding and testing of project specific functionality. The candidate will also act as a member of the site implementation team, to install validate and train the end users. Finally, the candidate will support the life cycles services group, by providing detailed analysis and corrective actions on reported issues.

The chosen candidate must display a solid work ethic with a devotion to code quality.

Experience/Degree Required:

  • Minimum degree in Computer Science, Software / Computer Engineering
  • 1 – 5 years of software development experience


  • Assist in maintaining systems by supporting Life Cycle Services (Customer Service) on customer questions or software defects
  • Analyzing Customer Requirements
  • Research, Design, Testing / Debugging, and implementation of a variety of host Software, including:
    • Graphical User Interface Screens
    • Storage / Retrieval Algorithms
    • Warehouse Control Logic
  • Further developing existing programs for fixes or improvements by analyzing and identifying the areas for modification
  • Creating Technical specifications and test plans
  • Server and PC setup, software installation, including Virtualized Servers
  • Provide onsite support for customer installations and system start-ups
  • Working closely with other Staff including
    • LCS Engineers
    • Project Managers
    • Hardware Engineers
    • System Designers
    • Sales and Marketing
  • Continually updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals, researching new technologies / methodologies, and accessing new applications

Experience/Skills Required:

  • C / C ++ Programming Experience with Upper-Level Controls and User Interface points
  • Database Experience (MS-SQL, Oracle, and others)
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Editions and Desktop Editions
  • Quality-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced innovative environment
  • Experience with Communications Protocols (TCP, UDP, FTP, etc…)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

 Experience/Skill Preferred:

  • Agile method for development
  • Material Handling: AGVs, WMS, AS/RS,
  • SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Red Prairie (or other ERP Software)
  • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, C#, C/C++, Java
  • Knowledge of Server Hardware and Virtualization
  • Experience with PLCs or I/O Modules
  • Knowledge of Source Control – Subversion with Tortoise, GIT, and FinalBuilder
  • Knowledge of Task Tracking Utilities – Atlassian Jira
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines


  • Travel – Up To 25% (including International)
